Research: Locate

Starting off

When researching, it is important to access and read a variety of information.

If your teacher has provided you with:

  • class notes
  • textbook
  • recommended readings
  • recommended websites

then these are a great starting point.

Then, begin to access other resources to build on your knowledge and research.

Use the suggestions on this page to discover great places to find information.

The Web

Be careful to make sure that the information you find is correct. It should come from a source that is reliable and authoritative about the subject.

Quick tips:

The URLs let you know the publisher type and what country is the host country of that information.

      .edu    =     education

      .org    =     organisation

      .gov    =     government

      .com   =     commercial

      .au      =      Australia

      .uk      =      United Kingdom

      Websites publicised in the United States do not have a country specification at the end of the URL.
